根据个人经历,我建议申请人在收到分配CO的通知后就开始准备与面试第2部分相关的事情。面试的问题大体上可以分为四类:申请人的就业前景(特别是主申请人)、申请人的准备情况、申请人对新西兰的熟悉程度和申请人在新西兰的人脉,其中,申请人特别是主申请人的就业前景将是整个面试过程的重中之重。以下是我从各种途径收集得到的与面试有关的问题(其中有些问题其实是重叠的):
申请人的就业前景
- Can you tell me briefly about your current employment, skills and experience?
- What is your preferred occupation in NZ?
- What industry do you work in? Do you know the job market situation in this industry in NZ?
- What level of position will you be seeking (e.g., entry level, middle management)?
- What opportunities exist in your industry in NZ?
- What recruiters have you approached?
- How many hours/week do you expect to work?
- What type of salary do you expect to earn?
- What barriers do you anticipate in finding a job?
- If you are not successful in finding a job, what are your plans?
- Are you looking for further career advancement in NZ? Are you ok with lower level jobs?
- Do you expect to study for a new degree or qualifications in NZ?
- What are your long-term plans in NZ?
- How has the recent recession impacted your industry in NZ? (or With the recession that happened, how do you think this will affect your job opportunities in NZ?)
- What do you know about opportunities to get work in (principal applicant’s preferred occupation) in New Zealand?
- What resources have you used in your research?
- Are there any shortages of your skills in NZ?
- Are you aware of any professional associations for your area of work? (What is the name and have you contacted them)?
- Have you ever worked in a different location or taken up a new career in a different occupation? (OR if you have never worked outside of your expertise before and you have to take up a different career in NZ)
- What savings will you bring over? How long can that carry you if you do not find a job in the short-term?
- How difficult do you expect it to be to find a position?

- Where to find good prices, how much is intra-country postage, how to get car inspected, who provides trustworthy service for home maintenance, etc.

申请人在新西兰的人脉
- Do you have family in NZ? (PS: Having friends and family is a plus, but not essential. The point is that they can help with settlement emotionally and financially. So if you do not, CO will move a little deeper on your knowledge and financial resources.)
- What support will you have in NZ? What kind of support do you expect from family/friends in New Zealand?
